Photography
Lviv, Ukraine. I visited this city this summer. It is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen.
Last Day
So I am sitting here in between classes about to attend my last class as a college student. Though I doubt this will be my last class ever, it still makes me sad that I will no longer be pushed to learn about History and English. I AM glad that I will no longer have tests and essays but it makes me sad that I will not have professors or lectures anymore. Maybe in a few years I will go back to school or go to seminary. Who knows. I just know I am definitely not done with school...just taking a break for a while.
Be praying that I do not get too frustrated with the mundaneness of a 9 to 5 job. Even though Habitat is NOT a desk job, it can still get mundane. I really hope that I can come up with extra activities to keep me from getting too frustrated.
So if you know of a group of a local book clubs, or sports clubs, or something where you think I might be interested please let me know.
Ugh...I guess it is now time to grow up.

southern colloquialisms
So...a few girlfriends and I were sitting around when we got on the subject of southern colloquialisms and how we need to start saying them again. So I thought I would share some of the best ones that we found with you, the list goes on and on...
If a bullfrog had wings, he wouldn't bump his ass when he jumped. (resulted from our saying IF too much)
Close that NEWmonia hole. (close the window)
Your ass is grass and I'm the lawnmower! (usually followed by: "Go get me a switch.")
Don't you make eyes at me, boy! (if we rolled our eyes)
He's about as handy as a back pocket on a shirt.
That's about as useful as a trap door on a canoe.
She was so tall if she fell down she would be halfway home.
Well, I'll just swaney! (Well, I'll be darned.)
He couldn't carry a tune if he had a bucket with a lid on it.
Somebody beat him with the ugly stick. (He's not very good looking.)
I'll jerk a knot in your tail!
POT LIQUOR
It's drier than happy hour at the Betty Ford clinic.

Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz
(1651-1695) Sister Juana Ines was a Nun living in the new world of New Spain and she was a prodigy who wrote feminist poetry instead of marrying. She was frustrated that men wanted loose women but then refused to marry them. She legitimately was the predecessor for Ludacris's beliefs. "We want a lady in the street but a freak in the bed".
You Foolish Men
You foolish men who blame
Women for no reason,
Oblivious that your acts incite
The very faults of your censure
...
With foolish arrogance
you hope to find a Thais
in her court, but a Luctretia
When you've possessed her.
What kind of mind is odder
Than his who mists
A mirror and then complains
that it's not clear
...
No woman wins esteem of you;
The most modest is ungrateful
If she refuses to admit you;
Yet if she does, she's loose.
Which has the great sin when burned
By the same lawless fever;
She who is amorously deceived,
Of he, the sly deceiver?
Or which deserves the sterner blame
Though each will be a sinner:
She who sins for pay,
Or her who pays to win her?
You Foolish Men
You foolish men who blame
Women for no reason,
Oblivious that your acts incite
The very faults of your censure
...
With foolish arrogance
you hope to find a Thais
in her court, but a Luctretia

Can't Take It In lyrics
by
IMOGEN HEAP
Can't close my eyes
I'm wide awake
Every hair on my body
Has got a thing for this place
Oh, empty my heart
I've got to make room for this feeling
It's so much bigger than me
[Chorus:]
It couldn't be anymore beautiful
I can't take it in
Weightless in love...unraveling
For all that's to come
And all that's ever been
We're back to the board
With every shade under the sun
Let's make it a good one
[Chorus:]
It couldn't be anymore beautiful
I can't take it in
More that I wonder
More than I ever needed
Woahhhhhh
More that I wonder

Intense Prayer Time
Recently I have been approached to pray and consider working against sex trafficking. Be praying that the Lord will intercede and provide financial support and volunteers to get these young women and children out of these horrible situations. Here are some facts about sex trafficking from the International Justice Mission located at http://www.ijm.org/ourwork/whatwedo
Sex trafficking is a massive global enterprise based upon force, coercion
and deception. Traffickers transport or detain their victims for the
purpose of exploitation and profit through acts of sexual violence. This
trade in rape for profit victimizes thousands of women and children
every year.
THE FACTS
• Human trafficking is the world’s third largest criminal
enterprise, after drugs and weapons. (U.S. Department of State)
• Worldwide, there are nearly two million children in the
commercial sex trade. (UNICEF)
• There are an estimated 600,000 to 800,000 children, women
and men trafficked across international borders annually.
(U.S. Department of State)
• Approximately 80 percent of human trafficking victims are women
and girls, and up to 50 percent are minors. (U.S. Department of State)
• The total market value of illicit human trafficking is estimated to
be in excess of $32 billion. (U.N.)
• Sex trafficking is an engine of the global AIDS epidemic.

Mama Said
So I have been in the mood for classic movies lately... I just can't get enough of Jane Austen, Doris Day, etc and just in the nick of time...when I thought I was about to run out of movies my mother told me about a BBC mini series called North and South. It is about a pastor's daughter who grew up in the quiet south and has to move with her family to the industrious and dark North of England. She is disturbed by the images she sees and the people she loses. But she finds herself falling for a man whom she once hated.
It is such an incredible story. If you get a chance to watch it please do. It is a four peice mini series so you can break it up as you wish...My sister and I watched the entire thing on Netflix from start to finish. HAH! It was so beautiful.
If you love the intensity between Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet you won't be able to get enough of Margaret and Edward. ENJOY!

contraversial
It was three AM. I was sitting on a sofa in the Stockholm apart. I had been traveling all day...walking alone in the streets of Paris...listening to Coldplay and admiring the beautiful buildings all around me. I just wanted to relax and enjoy a bit of light reading...this book was definitely NOT a bit of light reading.
My mother had told me about the Shack but I had put off reading it because being a history/english major has left me with zero time to read for myself. But I bought it before I left so that I could read it on the plane.
So there i was, staying up all night waiting for my 6 AM flight from Stockholm to Austria...with nothing else to do. So I pulled out the Shack and began reading. I did not put the book down until the plane landed. I sat next to an elderly man who kept giving me funny looks when I would just start weeping.
I had forgotten about The Shack until last night when I saw it on my book case covered in dust. So I picked it up and started reading it again...except this time...I read it slowly. I am excited to see what I get out of it this time...
For those of you who think The Shack is "sacrileges" or whatever you may think..I'd love to discuss it with you...For I think it is one of the most beautiful books I have ever read...and being a History/English major...I have read a lot of books.

In the Beginning...
Recently I have been writing down favorite stories, quotes, movie lines, etc that either make me laugh or make me think. So I have decided that a blog would be a great way for friends and family to join in as well as to be involved with my process of growing and transitioning into the real world and starting the next chapter into my life.
Hope you enjoy this.
